20 Layers Project

I really enjoyed working on this project, with all the different layers. It was different, but cool to do all this on a record. In this, I tried to include a tying theme together - the moon, stars, and galaxy. Overall, I think it was successful. Looking to the left side, I tried to make a crescent moon shape with foil, and outlined that with a piece of string. On top of this, I made little paper stars with various colors. Then, in the center, I wrapped a CD in foil, and made it look like a full moon. On the right side, I traced my hand, wrote LOVE on a transparency, and cut it out. Near the bottom, I created a heart by "connecting the dots" of foil with a hot glue gun. Throughout the entire record, there are clumps of sparkles representing the stars. Finally, after photographing this, I made a few edits on Photoshop by darkening the outlines of the moons, and adjusting the brightness. Working with 20 layers was different, but fun in the end!

Weekly Challenge #3

My weekly challenge for this week was to focus on, and produce images using HDR (High Dynamic Range). In order to produce these images, I first took 3 pictures (under-exposed, just right, and over-exposed) by changing the shutter speed. Then, I merged the three images on Photoshop, and increased the contrast a little bit. I decided to take pictures of these specific objects because I feel like HDR fits in with antique feel. These three images turned out how I envisioned they would. Surprisingly after this week, I actually really enjoy creating images with HDR.

Weekly Challenge #2

This was my second weekly challenge, picking a project from a former art class that I liked. The flash animation project was a project in Digital Art & Photography 1, using Macromedia Flash to create a mini movie. This flash animation had a lot of detail in it, with lots of movement and different layers. I am happy with how it turned out, because it turned out better than I expected. Everything was created on Macromedia Flash.

Weekly Challenge #1

This was one of my weekly challenges, which focuses on the topic of "Two Opposing Emotions: Create Conflict!" In this image, I am trying to show that there can be tears of sadness and tears of happiness/joy. In order to show this, I took close up pictures of my sister, and posterized her mouth. Then, I adjusted the brightness of her mouth: darker for sadness, and brighter for happiness/joy. For the tear, I drew it in my sketchbook, scanned it in, and colored it and outlined it in Photoshop. Finally, I framed each of the pictures to add more detail to the picture.
Summer Artwork #1

This summer, I went to Beaver Creek and took this picture of a flower I found while hiking. On Photoshop, I increased the contrast to make the colors more bold, and bring out the pink on the flower. Then, I added a vignette to add to the image by making the viewer focus more on the flower. I really liked how the flower was the only thing in focus, and the background was out of focus.

Summer Artwork #2

Despicable Me is one of my favorite movies, and I thought it would be cool to draw one of the characters from it. I drew this minion in my sketchbook, and then I colored it on Photoshop. To make the image bolder, I also outlined the image on Photoshop. It was really fun sketching, then coloring the image on Photoshop, even though it took a lot of time and focus on detail.
